Safeguarding Team

Safeguarding children is a core priority for all of us and we prioritise best practice in this regard at all times. The school has five fully trained Level 3 Safeguarding Officers:

In addition, all our staff have General Level 2 safeguarding training, which is updated every year and we practice safer recruitment so that all our staff, volunteers and governors have an enhanced DBS check prior to working with our children.

Early Help

Early Help provides support to children, young people and families when they need a little extra help to overcome challenges before difficulties become more complex. At our school, our Family Support Worker, Mrs Rakestrow, leads and coordinates Early Help, working closely with families, school staff and other services to understand individual needs and put the right support in place. This may include coordinating Early Help Assessments and Team Around the Family meetings, making referrals and helping families access appropriate services and resources.

Early Help is a whole-school approach. It is about working alongside families, building on their strengths and helping them develop the confidence, skills and support networks they need to manage challenges and thrive.

Prevent

Prevent relates to the Counter Terrorism and Security Act 2015 which came into force on 01 July 2015. Since July 2015 there has been a duty on schools to have "due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism". This is called the Prevent duty.

Prevent is part of the Government's counter terrorism strategy. Its aim is to stop more people from becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism in all its forms. All our staff have been Prevent trained. Our designated Prevent Officer is Head Teacher, Mr Nelson-Smith.
