Welcome to Robins Class
In Year 1 we aim to provide a seamless transition into the National Curriculum. As the children build on the Early Learning Goals, we begin to sharpen up skills and focus on key areas of learning from the National curriculum in a rich play based environment.
In line with ACE academy, we immerse ourselves into our learning enquiries, which we theme our foundation subjects and writing on. This is taught in a very fun and thematic way which engages the children immensely. We use metacognition tools to enhance and teach learning skills around the characteristics of effective learning.
In the course of the day there is both timetabled learning and opportunities for children to decide how to show their learning through exploration, play and learning zones. Specialist teachers in Music, Physical Education and Forest School teach alongside the class teacher to provide a broad and balanced approach to learning. We are a very happy place to learn.
