High School Transition

Navigating the journey from primary school to high school is an exciting adventure filled with new opportunities and experiences. At Trinity, we understand the importance of a smooth and confident transition for our pupils as they step into the next chapter of their education. This page is designed to be a helpful resource for pupils, parents, and guardians alike, providing valuable information, tips, and insights to ease the transition process.

Our goal is to ensure that every student feels well-prepared, supported, and excited to embrace the opportunities that await them. We're here to celebrate this milestone and provide the encouragement needed for a seamless and enjoyable transition.

Admission application dates

Applications for your child to start in year 7 at secondary school in September 2024 open on 1 September 2023 and close on 31 October 2023.

The date that all allocations of school places are announced in England is known as ‘offer day’. For September 2024 secondary school starters this is expected to be on 1 March 2024.

Please note that the Local Authority will no longer send out letters to parent/carers of children in year 6 inviting them to apply. If you have a child who is going to be applying for secondary school transfer in September 2024, you can register to be sent an email or text reminder to apply once the system goes live on the 1 September.

The closing date is 31 October each year. You can apply after this date, but applications made after this date will be considered late and may be at a disadvantage. Please see the ‘Late applications’ tab for more information.

If you cannot apply online,  please contact the Education helpline on 0345 155 1019 and ask for a paper copy of the form to be sent to you.

Local secondary schools

Open visits at high schools are important because they offer the chance to experience the school's atmosphere, interact with the community, understand academic and extracurricular offerings, and make informed decisions about the best educational fit for a child's future
